The avatar doesn’t make choices. The player makes choices.” That’s how physicist and simulation theory researcher Tom Campbell answered my first question at Psi Games 2026: if we’re living in a simulation, is free will even real?

His answer is a firm no — free will isn’t an illusion, it’s required. Materialism and determinism are a package deal, he argues, and so are consciousness, time, and free will. You can’t have one without the other two. Your body is the avatar. You — the awareness making the choices — are the player.

We also get into why Tom believes the UAP/UFO phenomenon exists on purpose, engineered by what he calls “the larger consciousness system” to crack open how humanity thinks, and why he says love, not control, is the only ethic that holds up once you take consciousness seriously as the foundation of reality.
